Global Garden Friends {Review + Giveaway}
7Our vegetable garden is just starting to bare some bright, colorful fruits and veggies. Back in June, when we went down to Florida to visit family for a few weeks, we left our garden in its infancy, and returned to what looked like a mini-jungle!
Only one side (towards the back) is trellised, but the front side, with the 2 cherry tomato plants was getting a little unruly. I must admit, I should’ve taken care of it right away, but I just kept putting it off… and off… and off…
Eventually, I had a big old tomato bush trailing my driveway; not really the most beautiful thing, I know. That’s why when Global Garden Friends contacted me to review some of their products, it was a God-send – just perfect timing! They sent me an Ultimate Plant Cage, some Ultimate Plant Clips, 6 Ultimate Plant Stakes, and some Ultimate Trellis Clips.
Now, in all honesty, I had very low expectations. I’d seen gardening gadgets at the store before and have never really been very impressed with what I saw. The typical tomato cages at the garden center just would not work to tame my already unruly tomato plants, so I couldn’t imagine what the ultimate plant cage could do for me.
Ultimate Plant Cage
Boy, was I ever wrong! The Ultimate Plant Cage truly lives up to its name. It’s the most versatile, customizable cage I’ve ever seen! It worked so well, I was absolutely giddy as I was finishing up the setup. It even started to rain as I was still working outside, but that didn’t phase me – I was beautifying my babies, and finally giving them the spa treatment they deserved; a little rain just made the whole experience that much more spiritually fulfilling.
The Ultimate Plant Cage comes in 2 parts: the base, which is in 3 interlocking pieces; and the stakes, which are then attached to the base. When I pulled everything out of the box, I was immediately impressed; instead of one big one-piece cage, this one could be built around your plants, instead of the other way around – talk about “working with your plants, and not against them!”
After the base is assembled around the plant, you just insert the extendable stakes into the little tabs, position them at the right angle, then lock them into place. So simple, easy, and straightforward, I didn’t even need to read the instructions!
Ultimate Plant Stakes
I have 2 tomato plants that needed some help, but only one cage. Luckily, I also had some plant stakes and clips, which I used to prop up the second plant and keep it in place. The Ultimate Plant Stakes (the same ones that are provided with the plant cage) are surprisingly strong and sturdy. They’re made of 100% biodegradable plastic – not bamboo, which can break or rot. They don’t bend under pressure, and the tips can extend up to 32 inches, meaning they actually grow with your plants! Their patented spin and lock mechanism makes it so easy to adjust their height in just a few seconds.

Ultimate Plant Clips
The plant clips are not like any clips I’ve ever seen. I’ve never bought clips before, I usually just use twist-ties, but they’re so frustrating and awkward to use! The Ultimate Plant Clips, however, actually work with your hands natural motion. They fit right in between your thumb and index finger, so you can literally clip your plants with one hand, by simply locking your fingers together.

The clips are made from 100% recyclable plastic, but these things are made to last! They’re durable, yet flexible enough to fit around your plants without scratching or choking the stems. And they’re so cute with their little leaf design, making them blend right in to your garden, instead of the twist-ties eyesore that I’ve been used to.
Ultimate Trellis Clips
The last item I received was the trellis clips. I didn’t end up using them, since I don’t have anymore trellis wire. But after checking them out and seeing how they work, they look like they will also live up to their name. The clips attach to your stakes at any height and allow you to string your trellis wire around your plant, giving them the support and security they need to grow taller and stronger. I will definitely be using these next year, when trellising my plants.
All in all, I’m extremely impressed with the quality and durability of the products I received from Global Garden Friends. They’re innovative, eco-friendly, and made in the USA! Their prices are very reasonable and affordable, and true to their name, Global Garden Friends also ships their products worldwide!
