Taking a Break…

Taking a Blogging Break

It’s been a long time coming, but I’ve decided to take a much needed, long overdue break from blogging for a bit. This definitely was not an easy decision to make, but I’m positive it’s the right decision.

This blog is my baby. It’s been around for as long as (and even longer than!) my first born, Yusuf. He was the very reason I ever started this blog. Because I wanted to do better by him – before I’d ever met him.

And now that my boy is 3.5 years old, we’re entering a new phase in his life. The preschool stage.

We’ve been “homeschooling” from the very beginning and will continue to do so, but I’m going to need to carve out more time for this. And, of course, that time has to come from somewhere…

We’ve also been blessed with two girls as well. Maryam was born in August 2013, and Bayan was born this past September 2014.

Yep, they’re exactly 13 months apart!

So basically, we’ve got all kinds of crazy going on at our house. ;-)

And after a long time of thinking and reflecting, I know it’s best if I take a step back from blogging for a bit. Just to recharge, refresh, and reassess.

Because let’s face it. I’ve been struggling to keep up with the blog and still manage all of my personal and home responsibilities. There’s only so much one can do in a day or a week, and I’ve stretched myself way too thin.

So now the blog is starting to feel more like a chore and not so much the passionate work that it was meant to be. That it used to be. Before life got all crazy with the kids. Before we were blessed as a “party of five.”

And now that the dust seems to be settling after the whirlwind that was the last few years, I really need to just take a step back from everything and just figure out this new life of ours. Figure out the intricacies of life as a party of five. And how each of us fits into the big picture.

I’m taking a break because I know that if I don’t, I’ll regret it later.

I’m taking a break because everyone reaches a point in his or her life that’s similar to this. But not everyone actually takes the break.

I’m taking the break…

What will I do?

It’s no coincidence that this decision is coming right at the start of 2015. I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and it just seems like the perfect time to start.

So, aside from spending more time working on home projects, I have a few things that I’ll be working on for the blog:

Study herbalism

I’m a lifelong learner, so I love delving into new arenas and immersing myself in knowledge. And after a long search, I’ve finally decided to go ahead and jump feet first into an area that has always intrigued me: herbalism. I want to learn all there is to know about using plants as food and medicine, so I’m signing up for the online introductory course at the Herbal Academy of New England.

Reassess and refocus

I started this blog about 4 years ago, when I was pregnant with Yusuf. Since then it has grown and evolved into something much bigger than I’d ever anticipated when I first started. For that, I am truly humbled and forever grateful. I think we’re quickly approaching a new level, and I need time to reassess the direction of Nature’s Nurture and refocus my efforts.

Freshen up

While I’m at it, I figured I’d do some housekeeping and freshen up the blog bit. So we just might have a new look when we come back after the break! :-)

How long will we be gone?

Good question. Right now, I’m planning to be out for about 3 months. I want to return right around the shift in seasons, as we welcome Spring and all it has to offer.

Poetic? I think so. :-)

If you need to contact me…

Although I won’t be blogging, I’ll still be online and connected. If you have a question or need help with something, please connect with me over on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.

If you email me or contact me through the blog, I can’t guarantee that I’ll get back to you in a timely manner, but I promise I’ll try. :-)

Same goes for any comments left on blog posts. I’ll be moderating/approving comments, but I won’t necessarily be able to answer questions or contribute to the discussion.

Well, I guess that about covers it! I’m excited about this, but it’s also a bit scary and uncertain. So any helpful thoughts or prayers are always appreciated.

Thank you so much. Wishing you all a warm and cozy Winter, and I’ll see you in the Spring, God-willing. :-)

10k giveaway

Hi everyone! Things are a little quiet on the blog these days since our family welcomed our baby daughter earlier this month – we’ve named her Maryam, and both mama and baby are doing very well.

Right before I went on my blog break, I was so excited to find that we’ve officially passed 10,000 Fans on Facebook! And since I promised a giveaway to mark this awesome occasion, I’m temporarily returning from my break to get this giveaway out to you fine people. ;)

Up for grabs this week is your choice of either a $75 Amazon gift card OR a $100 Tropical Traditions gift certificate! I couldn’t decide between the two prizes, so I’m just going to go ahead and give them both away – that’s how much I love you guys!

Seriously, I really am so appreciative of the wonderful family that we’ve built on this little old blog of mine. I still remember when my Facebook page had exactly 76 fans and about half of those were my personal friends and family. The fact that we’ve grown to a community of over 10,000 in less than two years is both exciting and so very humbling.

Thank you for all the love and support, and for helping me spread the message of “simple, natural, and homemade.”
