Toothpaste is one area that I’ve really struggled with when it comes to finding a natural, homemade alternative to the chemical-filled versions found in the store. I’ve tried homemade versions before but they always fell short. We used them for a period of time and then just gave up after a while. So we always resort back to a natural brand, but even the “natural” brands at the health food store that don’t contain fluoride, still contain other questionable ingredients like sodium lauryl sulfate, which may contribute to canker sores, and glycerin, which coats the teeth and prevents mineral absorption.
