Non-Toxic Scouring Powder

Ditch the harmful chemicals, and make this scouring powder with 2 simple, non-toxic ingredients. Use it on sinks, tubs, stainless steel, and more!

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup salt regular table salt, cheapest you can find
  • a jar with holes in the lid
  • liquid soap (any kind will do)


  1. Add baking soda and salt to the jar, and mix/stir very well until combined, then cover with lid.
  2. Start with a wet surface and wet sponge.

  3. Sprinkle powder liberally on surface. Add a squirt of liquid soap on the wet sponge, and scrub away.

  4. Rinse with water.

Borax - to remove stains and odors
Washing soda - for degreasing and removing stains
